Get the most out of your Broadplace

WHO CAN USE BROADPLACE?
Anyone in the local community can use the Broadplace: at The Kangaroo Inn age restrictions apply as it is a public house. Local community groups such as the WI or the playgroup can book laptops to use in the Village Hall if this is more appropriate.
If you've never used a computer before or you want to learn more about using computers the Broadplace volunteers are here to help you. Either come to our monthly open 'Monday Night Club' evenings or contact us to arrange for a volunteer to provide you with individual support at a mutually convenient time and place. Open 'Monday Night Cub' evenings will normally be held on the 2nd Monday in the month. We meet in the Small Bar 7-9pm. Monday Night Club is very informal. There'll be someone on hand to register you as a Broadplace user and get you started! Ask for help on what YOU want to do: Do you want to learn to search the Internet, find cheap flights or write a letter or find out about digital photography? Whatever it is, come along and have a go! Even if you have a computer at home this is a way of using IT in a more sociable way - it's great fun and everyone has something to learn! To arrange for individual support either call in and speak to Michelle, the licensee of The Kangaroo Inn, or phone her on 01588 660263 or email Aston Broadplace at the email address on our 'Contact Us' page.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO USE BROADPLACE?
At the moment, community drop-in use of the laptops and the Internet is free to individuals. We do though have to cover the costs of consumables such as printer ink cartidges and paper so a small charge will be made for printing and writable CDs.

WHAT CAN THE BROADPLACE DO FOR ME?
If you don't have your own computer at home or have never tried the Internet using a Broadband connection then coming to the Broadplace is an ideal way of finding our whether you are interested in learning about computers at no cost to you.

Even if you do have your own computer at home, you may like to come along and talk to others about problems or queries. You never know, someone might have the answer!

IS BROADBAND AVAILABLE ELSEWHERE IN ASTON?
Yes, the wireless broadband link also covers Aston on Clun Village Hall. This means that local groups can hire laptops from the Broadplace and connect them to the Internet for their meeting or course.
